Quick commerce unicorn Zepto is looking to strengthen its leadership by hiring several senior-level employees across categories ahead of its initial public offering (IPO). Adit Palicha, co-founder and chief executive officer of the company, gave this information.

Speaking at the seventh JIIF Foundation Day event in New Delhi on July 6, Palicha said, 'Today most of my time is being spent in interviewing the candidates. “We are trying to hire most of the vice presidents in our existing business areas like home and personal care, or meat and seafood, etc.”

According to the 21-year-old founder, the biggest challenge for Zepto is “building an exceptional team”. 'It's really difficult to do this in every business sector, not only identifying the right people and bringing them in, but also getting them fully engaged in something,' he said. It can be difficult to ask people who are already very successful to fully commit to something. Most of my time is spent ensuring that the team is exceptional and well-equipped.

In January this year, Nikhil Mittal, former senior vice president of Zepto, was promoted to the position of chief technology officer. This happened after raising $665 million in a Series F round last month with a valuation of about $3.6 billion.

The company is preparing to list in the next 12 to 15 months. It also plans to launch a recruitment drive ahead of its stock market listing.
